Thirsty Planet Water

Thirsty Planet is a brand of bottled water whose sole purpose is to raise money for the provision of clean water in Africa. Over a billion people in developing countries still cannot access clean drinking water, while in the west, clean drinking water is taken for granted.

Thirsty Planet Water

Thirsty Planet water is dedicated to bringing clean water to millions of people in sub Saharan Africa. Thirsty Planet works exclusively with Pump Aid, a UK charity with 12 years experience in delivering sustainable and cost effective solutions to provide clean water to impoverished communities.

The donations from sales of Thirsty Planet water allows Pump Aid to provide whole communities with clean water.

When you buy a bottle of Thirsty Planet water from an Autobar operated vending machine, you are helping to provide clean water to those in need. Thirsty Planet is currently funding a new pump every 6 hours.

Autobar was recently presented with a Certificate of Support from Pump Aid in recognition of their sales of Thirsty Planet water. Autobar have raised over £20,000 for the cause, which has enabled 97 Elephant Pumps to be installed in Malawi and Zimbabwe.

Elephant pumps greatly improve the quality of life in impoverished areas of Africa, by providing clean water to the local community.

    Elephant Pumps

Elephant Pumps are very simple to construct and material costs are low. On average, they supply around 500 people with at least 20 litres of clean water per day.

Elephant Pump

Due to their simplicity, Elephant Pumps can be sited virtually anywhere in Africa. They are quick and efficient, being capable of extracting a litre of water every second. They are designed to be self-cleaning so they do not clog up, and because excess water is diverted to storage tanks or vegetable gardens, hardly any water is wasted – essential during the long dry seasons.

Elephant Pumps are also very environmentally-friendly as they are operated by hand or foot.
